theyre so petty. incredibly petty. they insult each other and tell the other to fuck off but they never mean it. they say that theyre pushing their luck, that if they dont stop theyll do something about it, and yet they never actually try to hurt each other

they can absolutely hurt the other. neither of them r strangers to violence and killing. but they wont bc they just care too much. they give too much of a shit about each other that they just wont do it

they refuse to acknowledge their own feelings. so wut if they kiss or cuddle? its just a one time thing. even tho it keeps happening over and over and over again. so wut if they look each other in the eyes with pure affection and adoration? theres nothing going on. they dont care. theyd let the other be pushed off a cliff and not even flinch. (they would flinch. they would do anything to save them.)

and if either confessed to the other theyd just run. bc its terrifying to acknowledge acknowledge ur emotions. actually say it aloud and make it real. not just some fleeting moments, the occasional touches and affection that holds nothing behind it, (it holds everything. everything is being said all at once every time they just brush against each other) its now real. its honest and its bare in the open. an open wound, a weakness being shown and now suddenly theyre both weak. theyre both vulnerable. and theyre both scared.

but eventually they accept it. they accept how they feel and touch back down with reality bc honestly staying up in the clouds and pretending it all means nothing hurts more than the vulnerability that comes with admitting that they care.

theres a lot to discuss when talking abt how rwby was so hype back when it was just trailers and the show wasnt out yet but in retrospect the white trailer is giving utena so hard. the sword fighting. the surrealism. the fairy tale motifs, the black and white backgrounds even, almost inverse to the shadow puppetry in utena. and then its like. hi guys we're in extremely normal and real monster fighting college

my extremely hot take is that mulder and scully never should've gotten together as a couple in the traditional sense. they should've been weirdly codependent but ultimately platonic friends until the end of the series. I could see them sharing a mortgage and maybe custody of a cat like queerplatonic partners but they have no romantic or sexual chemistry. to me.
